Hi and welcome to modernAcorn!
***In case of the rare chance that the cart accidentally double sells an item, I'll do everything in my power to make you the item you've purchased or I'll gladly refund your money! Sometimes paypal and my inventory levels have the hiccups :)***
modernAcorn is simply a cloth pad shop focusing on hip, modern, fresh and exciting new fabrics!
All my pad patterns have been drafted by myself and I take great care in shipping you a gorgeous, fun and unique pad. It is *not* ok to buy a pad, trace it and try to sell it as your own :( Not only is that extremely unethical, it is hurtful to me as a person. I reserve the right to cancel any sale. Thanks for your understanding!

I want to try cloth, but I'm not sure where to begin!
The best place to begin is to take stock of your current disposable routine. Do you prefer long night time pads? Or do you have a light flow and prefer shorter pads? I've measured store bought pads that were my favorite and tried to find a similar size in a cloth option. I've even measured my favorite panties! A great way is to buy cloth is one or two pads at a time. That way you can wean off disposables! You can start by for example, wearing a pad around the house for a few hours during your cycle. Then you can try wearing a pad to bed. Once you get comfortable with them and how often you personally need to change them, then you can try wearing them to work or school. As you become confident in your pad wearing, you'll also have a really good knowledge of your cycle and body!

How many pads do I need?
This is a matter of personal preference. How many disposable pads do you use in a cycle? It also depends on how often you do laundry! I suggest around 10-15 in various lengths, depending on your cycle, if you have a heavier flow, you may need more overnight pads, but if you are on something like birth control, you may need far less and with less absorbency! It's a good idea to look at your current disposables to get an idea of what you like and use the most of!

What kind of materials do you use?
I use designer and upscale fabrics because they offer a more sophisticated look. When you think of upscale fabric, think about the same level of attention you give to buying new sheets, the higher the thread count, the more durable and gorgeous the sheets, the better the fabric, the less they'll fade, its the same way with ModernAcorn pads! I search and search to find the most gorgeous, top of the line fabrics, as a result, my pads are truly one of a kind. I purchase new fabrics daily and currently have over 200 to chose from! There's always something fresh, new and unexpected here! I also study fine art and follow all current fabric trends and upcoming designers. All pads have snaps that have been applied using my KAM professional snap press! All pads DO NOT CONTAIN PUL (or any other waterproofing material)! The cores of these pads are bamboo fleece and organic 100% cotton fleece which are extremely absorbent!
All fabrics are preshrunk and washed multiple times in ecover delicate wash :).

What is the difference between a cotton backed pad and a fleece backed pad?
Anti-pill fleece's main purpose in a cloth menstrual pad is its moisture resistant properties, which are great if you need to wear a pad for an extended amount of time, as it’ll help protect you against leaks if you can’t get to the bathroom to change it. However, it also doesn’t breathe as well as cotton, causing some women to sweat (myself included). It also makes a thicker pad.
100% cotton pads are more breathable, making it a great choice for upcoming spring and summers warm days! They are EXTREMELY thin, great for wearing under your favorite shorts and skirts! They can even be ironed as long as you avoid the snaps!!! Also, if you want too, you can wear the solid cotton side up against the skin or the cute patterned fabric! The choice is totally yours! All solids are extremely high quality quilters cottons from Kona, Amy Butler and Moda.

How do I care for my modernAcorn pad?
I prefer to wear a pad, then store it in a wet bag until it's convenient for me to hand wash them. Generally I hand wash my pads in extremely cold water until the water runs clear, I swear by Ecover stain remover. It's amazing, smells fantastic, is all natural and gets out stains easily! After hand-washing them, I toss them in a big ceramic jar with a lid, filled with cold water and OxyClean. At this point, they'll soak and soak until laundry day! Then I just toss them in with my towels and sheets and wash normally on hot or warm! Because I soak them for a while, I never have stains. Some women find it hard to find the time to hand wash and I completely understand that, whatever works for your lifestyle is best! It's just as easy to use pads and just toss them in with your towels :).

What do all the different sizes mean?
The length is simply the length of the pad! The snaps to means this is the area that wraps around your panties, I make more narrow pads. The other measurements are the widest back and front parts of the pad.

Why the different prices on the same sized pads?
Yes, the same size pad can be a different price! My pricing method is simple, time it took to make and cost of materials. A fabric that is $9 a yard is going to produce a pad that will be slightly less than a fabric that costs $20 a yard! The same goes with top stitching, one with a simple design won't be as much as one with intricate stitches that use a lot of thread and take double the amount of time :) I only use superior thread, fabric and core materials, when you buy a modernacorn pad, its an investment in a pad that will last you a very, very long time and make you so happy in years to come!

Do you take custom orders?
Yes, but only through the custom order shop listings. I will set aside a certain number of custom listings per month based on time and availability. Once I finish a custom order, I'll be adding a new custom order listing to the shop. This should streamline the process greatly! Due to the extra time taken with custom orders, they attract a nominal fee of $2.50 for a custom top layer and $5.00 for custom cores (in either case, I do not sew with PUL). Also, lengths are predetermined. For example, a set of three 9.5inch pads or a set of seven daily liners. Custom listing take one week to ship!
